Schedule2009
From DorkbotLondon
Work in progress. If you have a workshop, presentation or performance you want to do then put it in the unscheduled list at the bottom. Unless you want to do it at a particular time, in which case schedule it where you like.
This structure is flexible, we might change it quite a bit as we go.

Miscellaneous
- Odd games - anyone got some strange board/card/etc games to play in the evenings?
- I'll bring khet, "chess with lasers" [alexm]
Activities to be scheduled
Please say roughly how much time each activity needs, and what extra resources would be handy.
Workshops
- Pinball
I don't think there'll be time in a weekend to demolish a machine, do major repairs, remolish it and still be able to play. So the workshop will consist of a short (~30 mins) session explaining the workings with a small group poking around inside a working pin table [could be repeated if necessary], and a bunch of major components from another machine available for anyone with time and interest to pick up and do something with. Most jobs are common sense or use existing skills - the only experience needed is putting it back together!
- Dorkbot theme tune making (ooh if there's safe dry storage and i drive from london i can bring parts of my mighty ancient modular analog synth - BenG) (that'd be super! there should be plenty of indoor space for it - alexm)
- Chemistry of smell? - I can bring all of my oils and we can have a smell 'jam', talk about mood enhancers, properties, chemistry, but some oils can cause problems for epilepsy etc so need to check with group etc?
- Night projections?
- Ferrofluids?
- How to make your own underpants - Saul/Selene - 2 hours, self-explanatory really.
Performances
- put yours here
Vague ideas
Put your partly formed ideas here. If you've decided to do something please add details above so it can be timetabled, cheers!
- I (alexm) would like to play with projecting things on trees with things other than data projectors, e.g. liquid light shows. Anyone have an overhead projector?
- I have some slide projectors (like, two) to hack - should I bring them? - davide della casa
- yes please! - alexm
- I (adrian g) would like, interest and facilities permitting, to bring a pinball machine. Either a working example for play and disassembly or a basket case for repair and restoration (requires artists, engineers, mechanics, cleaners, carpenters). Please indicate interest in :
- playing (free, or for dorkbot/charity fund)
- a tour of the electrical and mechanical workings
- helping me touch up some knackered paintwork and other jobs
- alexm is interested in all the above, is sure others would be too
- davide della casa is interested in all of the above too
- dorkbotnyc (the first dorkbot) has a theme tune that they play at the start of each dorkbot. We don't have one, and could make one at the camp.
- I (saul) have this phrase going through my head: "people doing ordinary things without electricity".
- I (jane) am a qualified aromatherapist and would be interested in doing stuff with chemistry and smell...
- My (alexm's) sister might come and do an oil painting / drawing / imaginary map making workshop
- This is a gorgeous bit of coast for walking or cycling and I'd like to explore it a bit more without missing out on the dorking. So I don't want to lose the whole of Sunday but I'm thinking of staying an extra couple of nights, perhaps camping nearby. There's also a YHA in Swanage and a Backpackers in Bournemouth. I'd be happy if anyone else wants to join me. [adrian g]
- Nice idea, I was thinking of extending my stay too (with son and partner) although was thinking somewhere closer to home (alexm)
- Would love to do that too.. But haven't got much time on my hands. I leave early afternoon on Monday; very early Sunday morning would be great. (oliv)
- I (Chris3d) would be interested to have ago making electronics from household rubbish - I.E. capacitors from foil/cardboard juice cartons, resistors from graphite pencils, and you can make a simple transistor-like component from galvanized metal - these could make garbage radios or even a rubbish analogue synthesizer?
- I was thinking of giving a lecture on "Procedural Animation", a.k.a making animated pictures out of maths and processes. This talk would give an historical overview of this practice, illustrated by some examples of films and introduce some of the techniques that can be used. (oliv)
- I could present some projects: the blipbox, taquito, an auduino stylophone I just made... (martin k)
