Note that we're not supposed to arrive at the camp until 4:30pm, another group has it until then. There'll be an arrangement for early birds to meet at a pub / at the beach depending on the weather...

  • Pub : Square & Compass, on your left as you enter the village from the Kingston/Langton road. Public car park on the right 100 yds earlier. Almost no parking at pub but lots of outdoor & indoor seating. Alternate pubs at Corfe or Kingston if you want one on the bus route.
  • Beach : Turn right after the pub to pass the village green, pond, teashop, eventually right again leaving to the west. Pass the camp on your right, turn left at next junction. Public car park on right. Take footpath from south end of car park to beach (20 mins). No facilities (food/drink/toilet) at beach.

[edit] By Train

The nearest mainline train station is Wareham, 10 miles away from the camp. At the time of writing cheap train tickets are available for example £22 from london if you buy two singles rather than a return (check http://traintimes.org.uk/). If three or four of you are definitely traveling together, then if you buy your tickets together you can get a 'groupsave' discount (three or four for the price of two). This is available right up to and including the day of travel I think.

From Wareham station you can take bus number 40 to Kingston, which is fairly close to the camp but still an hour's walk. We'll organise pickups by car from there (phone numbers will be sent round nearer the time). The bus runs every hour (or every two hours on Sundays) and takes 20 minutes Timetable for bus route 40. There is a bus stop on the route near the Worth turn, but there is no shelter - just an overgrown verge. Kingston is very little further away and has both a pub and a bus shelter. There is also a bus stop in Worth itself - but it's on route 44, which runs only to Swanage with three trips a day. Swanage is accessible by the number 40 bus ..

Aternatively cycling from Wareham train station to the camp would take an hour or so. There are some leisure cycling maps here, although they're not useful for finding the camp they might be useful for exploring the area. Note that there is a 100m high hill between Corfe and Worth Matravers, most of the height gain occurring over a 500m section just north of Kingston.

[edit] By Car

Note that motorhomes, caravans and trailer tents are not permitted onsite.

You can get directions from google maps.

There are also directions on the accommodation website.

[edit] Lift sharing

[edit] Lifts needed

Add yourself here with rough time/day you want to travel, amount of luggage you need to shift, and from where.

  • Dan S plus one backpack, Friday evening (about 6pm) Wareham->dorks, Saturday morning (9am) dorks->Wareham
  • Jane M should arrive at Wareham 1.50pm Friday, bus from Wareham I believe leaves at 0.4 past 2.00 the hour so may need a lift from a pick up point ?? I had pre booked my train ticket to get it cheap so am rather early...but hey I can hang out in Dorset! Will call on the day as per email! Cheers
  • Conrad, I have one medium size rucksack. would like to go out anytime of day on friday, coming back any time of day on monday. based in brixton, south london. can travel to meet a car somewhere in london or outskirts of london. thanks.
  • Nathan and V have train tickets but might need a lift from the Station Friday evening and a ride back early Sunday.
  • Evan R has some various items for hacking to bring, not very large but enough to prevent him from taking too much on the train. If someone can pick it up from the general Dalston area, either Friday (anytime) or earlier in the week, that'd be awesome.

We can give a lift to Conrad from Brixton. We live just off Brixton Hill, and plan leaving around 1.00 on Friday, returning morning Monday. Any good? Geoff and Katiushka (AKA Mamasonga) call Geoff 0791 769 8528.

I (alexm) am happy to do a run picking stuff up from chris and evan tomorrow (wednesday) night. I'm heading out Thursday morning, camping on the way. The problem is getting stuff back again, I might not be able to fit that in before I have to return the hire car.

Greenman has space in the car for a body and bags, or some luggage. The car is wonderously old and decaying, but should get there. (I just hacked it back into shape!) Call me on 07971 478 482 if you are brave.

Liz has car space for 2 people + kit, happy to take anyone or anything. Timing ropey and unpredictable because of the day-job but if you need a lift on Friday from London north or central call 07917 488978 and we will get there eventually... <math>Insert formula here</math>

Alex is travelling Friday mid morning from brockley (south east london) and going via holborn, with space in car. 07976552375
