I've been trying to think of a project to do for the dorkcamp, and was looking at flo control:

I thought it would be fun to rig up something similar but simpler and battery powered towards the aim of photographing strange animals.

camera
.---. strange
| |-. animal
| |-' D----/
`---' /\ /\ sensor
  | .---.
  | `---'
  | .----. |
  | |:#:!| |
  `----------|=@%%|----'
  camera `----'
  trigger arduino
  wire board

The arduino board could also control a motor to set bait to encourage the strange animals to walk towards the camera if there isn't enough activity.

Pete Rogers has a lot of experience with automatically triggering digital cameras in harsh conditions, he has several cameras in remote parts of the UK tracking effects of climate change. It would be good to get him down for the camp anyway.
