  • Orienteering type stuff
    • With OpenStreetMap we could map the local area, wherever it is.
    • 'Wide games' with mobile phones, GPS etc would be cool. (e.g. Pacmanhattan)
    • GPS vs. ESP orienteering challenges
    • RFID letterboxing (http://spacehijackers.org/letterboxing/)
  • 9v Dorkestra - bring a battery-powered instrument and have a jam.
  • Ludditey/old skool non-electronic stuff
    • making tools, rope skills, knife skills, survival skills etc. (a grown up scout camp)
    • Heath Robinson device / Rube Goldberg machine contest (e.g. lifesize version of Mouse Trap).
    • Algorithmic/generative art in real life. Rangolis (http://dataisnature.com/?p=85), crop circles, etc.
    • Food hacks. What's the most elaborate thing you can cook on an open fire? Exciting things to cook (like cinder toffee). Jam
    • Making fire with sticks.
    • Fire poi. Juggling. Kites. Bottle rockets. Home made fireworks. Remote control aircraft. Paper boat making. Astronomy navigating by the stars?).
    • doing things by bicycle power that are usually done by electricity? I've had a long standing idea to build an adaptor that allows a bicycle to turn a woodlathe that is built on-site (along the lines of a spring-pole lathe )
  • Photography/video stuff
    • Kite photography
    • Making a balloon to support a camera for really high shots (need lots of string and tissue paper, dope and a basket)
    • long exposure LED drawings/light paintings (if somewhere really dark)
  • Informal Presentations
    • long distance WLAN (Hot-spot) testing.(If anyone got Laptop with NetStumbler program AND
    • external antena socket please bring it for a test)
  • Swimming - on your own or Mark offers to try to teach anyone to swim in an hour, or drownproof in five minutes. For learning swimming, you need to bring a kick board or a bit of polystyrene that you find on a street corner (preferably not too clunkily shaped)
  • Tree climbing
  • Foraging for wild food - There is plenty to eat in the woods at this time of year we'll find out if the beach nuts are ready, look for lichen a natural antibiotic, and try eating things that look like they might be edible but equally could killl us.
  • Automatic wildlife photography
  • Detecting bats' ultrasonic sounds
  • Tai chi
  • swap shop/trading corner
  • Hacking/circuitbending an old Yamaha musical keyboard. Each note works a single pole changeover switch ideal for controlling motors, lights, pyrotechnics....With 48 notes it could be one note per camper ?
