Travel info
- By train - The nearest station is Gomshall. From London, it's probably quickest to go via Guildford from Waterloo. The fast (portsmouth) train gets you to guildford about 30 mins faster than the slower one. The trains from Guildford to Gomshall aren't too frequent, particularly on Sundays so plan ahead. It takes an hour or so to walk to the camp from Gomshall so take a bike or request a pickup/drop off here: http://burningdork.slab.org/index.php/GomshallShuttle
- By train and bike - Follow the instructions above, turn right (west) out of the station and look for a left turning into Shere. Follow that the instructions below.
- By road - get to Shere, then go south down Shere Lane which becomes Sandy Lane and then Hound House Road. Keep going straight down Hound House Road. Eventually you will see Bentley Copse Scout Camp on the left hand side. Keep going until the second entrance on the left hand side, which will take you to a car park near the training centre. If that car park looks full, back up and go into the first entrance.
When to arrive/leave
People are starting to arrive around lunchtime on Friday, and leaving by lunchtime on Monday. Please be as quiet as possible when arriving/leaving after 11pm. To make the most of the workshops you should be there for both the theoretical sessions on Saturday and more hands on sessions on Sunday. Then there's all the other presentations, plus the big burn on Sunday and big tidy-up on Monday morning which shouldn't be missed!
